Building Whitehalls

Matt's Pictures277

Lang on the Hudson is a boat building and river history course taught by Prof. Rob Buchanan,
at the Eugene Lang College of the New School for Liberal Arts, in New York City.
In the Floating the Apple tradition, students build a 24-foot Whitehall Gig in the workshop,
and then roll it through city streets for a spring launching at Pier 40 on the North River.

Greenpoint Video Project continues to produce and feature waterfront-related subjects in other boroughs, and as North River Productions, we survey what's happening around Manhattan's waterfront. Currently in production, an upcoming program documents a boat building workshop at Pier 40, in downtown New York on the Hudson River

Note: Since September, 2008, GVP has been engaged in revising its computer editing system - both hardware replacement issues, and operating system and software upgrades. Because of this, it has been necessary to learn a new and different non-linear editing system, Final Cut Pro, which promises eventual rewards in terms of advanced capability. GVP thanks you for your patience.

About GVP:

The Greenpoint Video Project, now in its 11th year, produces videos on waterfront-related subjects in North Brooklyn, and beyond, to include citywide waterfront revitalization activities, events, and organizations. In the year ahead, 2008, GVP is considering a name-change to North River Video Productions, to reflect a growing commitment to focus on waterfront revitalization on Manhattan's West Side, along the Hudson. We will continue to follow selected waterfront activity projects around the city.

Productions are broadcast on MNN, Manhattan Neighborhood Network, Channel 34, at 9pm, the 3rd Monday of each month, and on BCAT, Brooklyn Community Access Television, Channel 35 or 68, at 10 pm, the 4th Thursday of each month

Help Support The Greenpoint Video Project

For the past 8 years, GVP's operating expenses have been assisted by a grant from NYCEF, the New York City Environmental Fund, as administered by the Hudson River Foundation. We are pleased to announce a continuation of that support for 2007-8. Inquires about obtaining copies of our programs on DVD and VHS, and to make tax-deductible contributions are welcome. Please contact the producer.
